In light of the recent announcement by the PEC regarding pre-medical students being eligible to apply to engineering programs, NUST has updated its undergraduate admission policy to allow the same. This article will give in detail the options pre-medical students have at NUST, and guide you about the NUST entry test for pre-medical students.

For NUST Admissions Fall 2025, pre-medical students are eligible to apply to the following NUST programs for medical students.
If you wish to apply to any of these programs, you will have to appear in the NUST entry test for pre-medical students.
NUST entry test for pre-medical students has different according to which NUST program for pre-medical students you want to apply for.
According to NUST’s updated policy, pre-medical students wishing to apply to both engineering and computing programs at NUST will have to give NET-Engineering. The test pattern for NET-engineering is given below.
Students can also apply to natural sciences or applied sciences degree via this test without having to give an additional test.
This test includes a section for Mathematics that tests knowledge an understanding of intermediate mathematics. All pre-medical students will need to give this test regardless of whether they gave additional mathematics or not. The math section comprises of 40% of the test and the syllabus includes topics such as number systems, sets, matrices, quadratic equations, sequences and series, permutation and combination, probability, trigonometry, calculus, and analytic geometry. The physics and chemistry sections also test concepts from the intermediate syllabus.
Pre-medical student will have to spend some time learning concepts from the mathematics curriculum, as they have not studied these topics at all. Students can use live classes, recorded video lectures, and tests to understand and practice these concepts.
For NUST admissions 2025, pre-medical students (with or without additional math) wishing to apply for Engineering programmes also need to pass a condensed mathematics course conducted by NUST in the summer.

Students applying to BS Bioinformatics and any of the applied science programs can opt for NET-Applied Sciences. The pattern for NET-Applied Sciences is given below.
This test is for students with a pre-medical background applying for popular NUST programs for medical students such as BS Biotechnology / BS Environmental Science / BS Food Science & Technology and BS Agriculture programmes as well as Computing Programmes Including BS Computer Science, BS Artificial Intelligence, BS Data Science and BS Bioinformatics. Students can also for BS Chemistry via this test without giving an additional test.
This test is for limited programmes but is easier for pre-medical students as it does not have a mathematics section and students would have studied all biology, physics, and chemistry concepts in their intermediate. Students can use various resources to study for this test.
The NUST School of Health Sciences offers two NUST programs for medical students: MBBS and BS Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
MBBS
For admission to MBBS, students need to give the NUMS MDCAT. More details on NUMS MDCAT syllabus and paper pattern can be found in this article.
BS Human Nutrition and Dietetics
To apply to BS Human Nutrition and Dietetics, student need to have passed one of the following tests:
Students wishing to enroll in a BS Chemistry programme can choose to give NET-Chemistry. The paper pattern for NET-Chemistry is given below.
Students must have Chemistry with either Mathematics or Physics in HSSC/ A levels to be eligible to apply for this test. It is important to have a strong understanding of intermediate chemistry to do well in this test. You can brush up your concepts using live classes, recorded video lectures, and tests.
Students seeking admission in BBA, BS Public Administration, BS Mass Communication, BS Economics, BS Psychology, BS Accounting and Finance, BS Tourism and Hospitality, LLB need to give NET-Business Studies and Social Sciences. The test pattern is given below.
This test falls under the category of BCAT (Business College Admission Test) and tests students’ skills in verbal, quantitative, and analytical reasoning. Students would need to brush up on their English and Basic Math skills to do well in this test. You can use live classes, recorded video lectures for English and Math, and practice tests to help you prepare for NET. We have given some sample videos and tests to help you understand the nature of this test.
To get into NUST, you need to make sure you get a good aggregate to get a high merit number. Since NET score is the major component of your aggregate, it is important to score really well in NET especially if you are aiming for popular programs.
Pre-engineering students have a slight disadvantage when preparing for NET engineering since they have not studied mathematics at intermediate level. This means that they need to work extra hard to get into the merit list for engineering programs. To perform well in NET 2025, make sure your concepts are clear and your practice multiple NET Past Papers. You should into the following resources:
We hope that this guide helped you understand the NUST Entry Test for premedical students, and wish you the best of luck on your journey to NUST!
