KMU Merit List 2024 - How to Get Admission in KPK Public Medical University

Khyber Medical University (KMU) was the test conducting university for PMDC MDCAT 2024. KMU MDCAT 2024 was conducted on 22nd September and KMU MDCAT 2024 results were released on 25th September 2024. Students can now calculate their MDCAT aggregate and are waiting for KMU admissions 2024 announcement and the release of KMU merit list 2024.

This article details the KMU admission process for all public medical universities in KPK and the process of generation of KMU merit list 2024, along with predicted KMU closing merits 2024.

KMU MDCAT Merit List 2024

With KMU MDCAT 2024 results having been released, students will now be waiting for the KMU MDCAT Merit Lists 2024. The KMU MDCAT Merit list will be announced after admissions to public universities in KPK close. While you are waiting for universities to announce admissions, it might be helpful to look at career options, future specialization areas, and avenues for university scholarship.

Expected KMU closing merits 2024 are around 90% for both MBBS and BDS. The KMU MDCAT closing merits 2023 are also given at the end of this article to help you estimate closing merits for different admission categories.

KMU is the admitting university of KPK public medical and dental universities, and will soon open admissions for MBBS and BDS in public sector medical and dental colleges in KPK. A list of government medical and dental universities is given below.

Students who have scored at least 60% in their pre-medical intermediate exams (or equivalent), and have the KPK domicile will be eligible to apply to these universities. In addition, students must also have scored a minimum of 55% for MBBS and 50% for BDS in MDCAT. Students will be offered admissions on the basis of their MDCAT aggregate.

How to Calculate the KMU MDCAT Aggregate

KMU follows the merit generation criteria give by the PMDC. KMU MDCAT aggregate calculation formula is as follows:

• Secondar School Certificate (SSC) / or equivalent: 10%
• Intermediate Pre-medical (HSSC) / or equivalent: 40%
• MDCAT: 50%

How to Apply for MBBS in KPK

To apply to any public medical and dental university in KPK, students need to apply through KMU since KMU is the admitting university of KPK. The application process is now completely online and students have to apply  through the online portal in the KMU admission website. The step-by-step 2024 medical university admission process (based on last year) is given below.

Step 1:

Go to the KMU admissions website and create an account.

Step 2:

Enter your details and select category of seats for which you are eligible:

• Open merit
• General self finance
• Foreign self finance
• NMTD/Ex-FATA
• Overseas Pakistanis Foundation
• Disabled Candidates
• Backward Areas
• Reciprocal Seats
• APS victims/siblings
• Minorities
• Other

Note that separate admission form and fee shall be submitted for open merit and self finance MBBS and BDS

Step 3:

Upload readable scanned copies of the required documents.

Step 4:

Generate fee slips and print them out. Visit any branch of Bank of Khyber (BoK) and deposit application processing fees. Note that this fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, and students have to pay a separate fee for MBBS open merit and MBBS self finance and BS open merit and BDS self finance.

Step 5:

Login to verify payment details and submit application.

Important Instructions KMU Admissions 2024

• Make sure the application form is complete with all required details and documents.
• Applications are online only.
• Students from certain categories will also need to submit certificates of location.
• Students will need to list their preferences for colleges for admission in order in the forms.
• Applicants will be given a deadline of 3 days to submit their admission fees after receiving an admission offer. If applicants do not submit their fee on time, their seat will offered to the next candidate on the list.

What is the merit criteria for KMU?

The following eligibility criteria is given on the KMU website:

1. Candidates who have passed F.Sc (Pre-Medical) or Equivalent Examination with a minimum of 50% marks for BS Programs and 60 % marks for DPT/Pharm-D Admission.
2. Candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa/FATA/PATA/FATA-IN/Baluchistan can apply for admissions.
3. Both male/female candidates are eligible to apply.
4. Moreover, 5% each for General Self Finance, Foreign Self Finance and Merged Districts, 02% minority, 02% disable, 02% Swat Domicile holders (only in KMU IHS-Swat), 60% Kurram Domicile Holders (only in KMU IHS-Kurram) and 4% KMU Employees wards’ quota shall be observed in each discipline (subject to documentary proof).
5. Admissions shall be granted on merit-cum- quota basis only.
